Detail Description:
Provides a safe, attractive, comfortable operating environment at Barclay Friends by directing HVAC, electric, plumbing, carpentry and day-to-day maintenance, and minor projects. Performs or directs general preventive maintenance duties, repairs, and inspections of the building structure, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems throughout the community.

Qualifications:
Must have 5 years experience in general building maintenance and repairs. At least 4 years training in HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry is preferred. Must have a working knowledge of building, systems and equipment. Must possess a current driver’s license. Must have proficient computer skills, including working with a work order system database, word processing and other computer programs (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook); Strong recordkeeping skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills required. Must have the ability to accomplish tasks outlined in the Barclay Friends maintenance person essential duties. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Working Conditions:
Works with oils, greases, wetness, heat, cold or other adverse conditions indoors and outdoors.

Job Hazards:
Normal hazards associated with moving and stationary equipment, moving parts, use of power tools, saws and electricity.

Hours:
Full-time, exempt position from 8am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday. This position includes additional hours on an as-needed basis. This position is also required to be on-call some evenings and weekends.

The Kitchen/Utility Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the smooth, efficient and organized daily operation of the Utility team in the performance of ware and pot washing, meal cart delivery and collection and securing the kitchen each night.

In conjunction with Back of the House manager and Utility Coordinator, oversees the following:

  • Completes staffing schedule and maintains accurate attendance records thru electronic payroll system. Updates attendance daily to insure accurate records for bi-weekly payroll reporting.
  • Work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, resident-centric environment.
  • Interviews and hires new employees to maintain staffing levels. Coordinates orientation and training of new and existing staff in proper ware washing and sanitation procedures to consistently meet all local and state guidelines.
  • Completes regularly scheduled employee performance appraisals, and makes recommendations for advancement of frontline staff members to Lead positions. .
  • Assigns work tasks and coordinates activities of utility team to ensure all daily activities are completed.
  • Coordinates monthly inservice with Utility team members and provides one and one direction and mentoring to staff as needed.
  • Works directly with the Back of the House Manager and the Chef to ensure that the Department is ‘Inspection Ready’ at all times. Coordinates all daily, weekly cleaning schedules, logs and maintains these records for inspections. Responds to alerts from electronic temperature monitoring system for refrigerated storage.
  • Assists in other areas as needed. Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.

  • WORK CONDITIONS/HOURS: Regular Hours are 12:15 PM to 8:45 PM and every other weekend is required. Work collaboratively with Dining Director, Executive Chef, managers and supervisors to oversee a busy upscale dining facility and kitchen.
  • EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  • Certified Dietary Manager preferred
  • Current ServSafe Certification is Required
  • Minimum 5 years experience in hospitality or food service in acute care, LTC or CCRC settings.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in supervision/management in food service, hospitality or related field.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with residents, staff and visitors.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to effectively multi-task. Excellent problem resolution skills, and the ability to make independent decisions using good judgment.
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation standards and procedures
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows-based software.

Supervises, provides leadership and promotes teamwork of health care personnel. Administers medications and performs treatments according to physician orders.

Essential Functions:

  • Follows Charge Nurse Routine guidelines for shift to ensure consistency in shift routine. Receives report from previous shift and gives report to the next shift to facilitate continuity of care.
  • Supervises health center staff and directs resident care given by caregivers to ensure quality care is given in accordance with established nursing standards, and facility policies and procedures. Ensures that call lights are answered promptly.
  • Works closely with nursing assistants. Observes skill levels and teaches concepts of nursing care on an informal basis. Assists with nursing assistant performance reviews.
  • Ensures nursing assistants have appropriate information to provide care to residents.
  • Administers, documents and oversees medication administration as ordered, and observes resident reactions. Completes drug and behavior monitoring as per program guidelines.
  • Admits new residents. Performs and documents resident assessments on admission and as needed thereafter.
  • Initiates and updates the resident plan of care.
  • Evaluates residents on the Open Event list, provides care as needed and documents findings.
  • Monitors, documents and reports changes in resident status to physicians and families.
  • Receives, documents and follows through on physician orders.
  • Assists physicians as necessary.
  • Supports the spiritual needs of residents and the work of the Spiritual Care Team.
  • Communicates with and coordinates resident care with outside personnel that are providing services.
  • Responds to outpatient needs as appropriate.
  • Follows up with appropriate staff, residents, or other individuals regarding reported complaints, problems, and concerns.
  • Maintains a safe and comfortable environment for residents, staff and visitors.
  • Performs psychomotor nursing skills, which may include taking vital signs, infection control, administering injections, and assisting with daily living requirements.
  • Follows and enforces back safety precautions for lifting and moving residents and other items.
  • Adheres to Friendsview’s policies and procedures, including those covering privacy and security in compliance with HIPAA regulations, and codes of conduct. Maintains confidentiality and respects residents privacy at all times in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Knows, understands and carries out infection control and standard /transmission-based precautions including appropriate use of personal protective equipment.
  • Knows, understands and responds to emergencies as per responsibilities identified in the Friendsview Emergency Action Plan.
  • Assists as needed in emergency situations. In case of catastrophic event (fire, flood, earthquake, or other emergency) makes all reasonable efforts to report to campus and provide support as directed by emergency coordinator.

Friends Village at Woodstown; southern New Jersey’s award winning CCRC recognized for providing quality service to seniors, is actively seeking qualified individuals to join our Dining Staff. We are located within 15 minutes of the Delaware Memorial Bridge in the quiet country of southern New Jersey, close to a number of major roads and within a short distance of Philadelphia and Wilmington.

We have a need for the immediate placement of qualified candidates for the following:

  1. Dining Services / Cook / Part-time, 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and every other weekend, non-exempt
  2. Dining Services / Server / Part-time 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and every other weekend ,non-exempt
  3. Dining Services / Dishwasher/Utility / Part-time 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and every other weekend ,non-exempt

Friends Village is a 121 year old non-profit CCRC with strong ties to the local community. We offer ILU, ALU, & SNF levels of care within our beautiful community setting. Being a full service community we are always looking to add outstanding staff members in a number of different areas. In addition to our Dining Services, we have positions in Maintenance and Health Care for which we are accepting applications.

Job Objective/ Summary: Scope of job may be limited to specific work or project areas, with limited regular one-to-one resident interaction. Primary assignments may include housekeeping or laundry or both. Provides excellent customer service, interacting with residents, staff and community members in a friendly and courteous manner at all times. Works from a set of clear expectations. Decision-making is occasional and problem-solving is minimal. This position may serve as a training position for a Housekeeper III-Laundry position.

Housekeeping: Performs cleaning tasks that assure a clean and attractive environment for residents, guests and co-workers.

Laundry: Provides laundry services for health services, dining services, facilities department, and for individual residents as assigned.

Essential Functions:

·    Housekeeping: Perform detailed cleaning and sanitizing tasks, empty trash and process recycling in designated areas. May assist with additional cleaning tasks or projects as assigned. Perform work as per quality and quantity standards identified for the job and/or department.

·    Housekeeping: Restock cart with necessary supplies.

·    Laundry: Understand and follow established laundry procedures including proper use of detergents and other chemicals, and safe use of all equipment including washers and dryers. Ensure that an adequate supply of linens is available to meet the “par” level.

·    Properly use, maintain and store equipment.

·    Conduct job duties in a safe manner, following all safety regulations and guidance from safety data sheets, and using proper personal protective equipment for work.

·    Follow written and verbal work plans and assignments.

·    Follow and complete work plans and assignments as per work schedule. Assist others in department when you have time, and ask supervisor for help if you need assistance completing tasks within assigned work schedule.

·    Report work issues to supervisor for help with fixing them.

·    Identify and report work orders for maintenance as needed.

·    Respond in timely manner to clean up accidents and/or in emergency situations.

·    Adhere to Friendsview’s policies and procedures, including those covering privacy and security in compliance with HIPAA regulations, and codes of conduct. Maintain confidentiality and respects residents privacy at all times in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

·    Demonstrate excellent customer service to all at Friendsview, especially ensuring that residents receive the highest quality of service in a caring atmosphere that recognizes their needs and rights.

·    Attends and participates in orientation, training and educational activities as required.

·    Dresses appropriately, following appropriate dress and uniform policies and guidelines.

·    May be required to drive in order to work at off-site locations.

·    Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

·    Job Education, Licenses/Certifications, Knowledge & Experience: No formal education or experience necessary; however, must be able to learn and perform the job as outlined in this job description.

·    Supervising (direct reports and level of supervision): Not responsible for any supervisory functions or responsibilities.

·    Decision Making: Works from a set of clear expectations. Decision-making is occasional and problem-solving is minimal.

·    Interpersonal Skills/Interactions: Communicates in a friendly and respectful way to residents, guests and co-workers. Communications may be routine or non-routine in nature, and may require discussion. Communication and interpersonal skills are important.

·    Must be 18 years of age or older.

Additional Requirements/Preferences:

Requirements:

·    Must successfully pass the Department of Human Services (DHS) criminal background check and, if applicable, fingerprinting.

·    Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

·    Must be able to pass the pre-employment reference checks.

·    Must be able to provide the official grade transcripts of the education level provided on the employment application.

·    Must be able to provide a copy of his/her own social security card for W-4 documentation.

·    Must be able to provide applicable documentation(s) for I-9 in order to establish identity and authorization to work in the US.

·    Must have valid driver’s license, personal automobile liability insurance, and acceptable driving record (if required to drive).

Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Category I: Your tasks routinely involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, or other contaminated materials. In compliance with OSHA standards on blood borne pathogens, Friendsview Retirement community will offer Hepatitis B vaccine to all employees who are determined to be at risk of exposure to blood or other body fluids and follow up to all employees who have had an exposure incident. This vaccine will be provided at no cost to the employee.
