Job Objective/ Summary: Working primarily in Health Services areas, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, this position addresses the nutritional and dietary aspects of health services residents’ care in order to enhance their mental, social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing, and to promote quality of life. Works with recommendations from Registered Dietician regarding diet restrictions, supplements and care plan recommendations for Health Services residents. Participates in resident care conferences as assigned. Supervises dining services staff, including nutritional services aides and wait staff , working in health services areas. Works closely with kitchen staff in planning food and snacks to meet resident needs. May be called on to provide residents and their families, staff, volunteers, etc. with meaningful nutritional and dietary education related to health service residents.

Also regularly supervises and supports front-house staff in Friendsview’s independent dining areas in setting up tables, serving food, clean up & maintenance, and in providing a high level of customer service.

Ensures that all practices and food handling are in accordance with sanitary standards and recognized food serving standards.

Essential Functions:
Adheres to Friendsview’s policies and procedures, including those covering privacy and security in compliance with HIPAA regulations, and codes of conduct. Maintains confidentiality and respects residents privacy at all times in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Health Services: Nutrition/Dietetics
Addresses dietary needs and concerns of health services residents regarding types of diets requested or offered, food textures and purposes behind them, etc.
Meets with resident and/or resident families upon entering health services to discuss resident’s needs and desires, and nutritional dietary options.
Monitors residents’ habits at meals in order to provide ongoing input to the health care team and dining services regarding physical symptoms that may need to be considered for diet changes, as well as personal reflections at care conferences regarding the resident’s dietary needs and dining experience. Participates in care conferences.
Ensures that dining staff in health services areas are knowledgeable about, understand, and are sensitive to residents’ dietary needs including mechanical types of food processing, diabetic health and health heart considerations.
Coordinates resident dietary needs with food preparation and delivery to ensure a healthy and pleasing dining experience for health services residents.
Works closely with Therapeutic Recreational Services Coordinator to provide positive meal-related activities for health services residents.
Ensures snacks and snack cart items meet the needs of residents.
May participate in educational programs for residents and staff regarding age-appropriate nutrition and dietary needs of residents.

Daily Operations
Ensures that meals are served according to Friendsview’s dining and customer service standards.
Hires, trains, coaches and conducts formal and informal evaluations on reporting staff members.
Plans and conducts daily pre-service meetings and other staff training.
Creates and maintains weekly schedule, monitors & manages staff attendance according to dept. standards.
Consistently and efficiently completes all dining services department and employment-related paperwork- including schedules, changes, business fluctuations while maintaining a professional, calm and composed demeanor.
Completes labor cost analysis and reports as scheduled.
Creates signage and for food presentation that meets department standards.
Inspects work stations and practices to ensure that regulations and standards are maintained.
Adheres to the injury/accident, uniform and other department policies & standards.
Adheres to all Health Department and Oregon OSHA regulations.

Demonstrates a complete understanding of menu items and explains same to customers accurately.
Accommodate last minute orders and add-ons efficiently and courteously.
Manages and maintains small wares, delivery equipment and supplies.

Supervision and Staff Development In the performance of their respective tasks and duties all supervisors are expected to complete the following: (1) Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision. (2) Interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers, (3) Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments, (4) Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and departments. This position supervises numerous (2-8) hourly employees. This includes both catering personnel and at times culinary personnel.

Candidate should have a strong background in horticulture. A degree in higher level education or equivalent experience is required.

Install and maintain perennial and annual beds. Assist in the pruning of landscape according to trade standards. Install new landscape material according to design concepts and trade standards. Maintain turf areas of village, includes mowing, fertilization, insect, disease and weed control. Use appropriate control methods to manage insect and disease problems on ornamentals. Function as a first responder in emergency situations. Assist in general building maintenance during off season, such as changing air filters, moving furniture, and other general labor as needed. Assist in the removal of snow from Pennswood Village. Regular attendance at seminars and continuing education programs. Keep accurate records, work with vendors, and have promlem solving skills during time of emergency situations. Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Associate’s Degree in Horticulture or related field, or a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience within the horitcultural industry.

Valid driver’s license with no major violations.

Ability to operate equipment assigned to the landscape department.

Pennsylvania pesticide applicator’s license.

Ability to follow directions, both written and verbal.

Ability to bend, stretch, climb, kneel, reach, stoop and lift 20 – 65lbs. Ability to work in heat, cold and inclement weather. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Detail Description:
Provides a safe, attractive, comfortable operating environment at Barclay Friends by directing HVAC, electric, plumbing, carpentry and day-to-day maintenance, and minor projects. Performs or directs general preventive maintenance duties, repairs, and inspections of the building structure, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems throughout the community.

Qualifications:
Must have 5 years experience in general building maintenance and repairs. At least 4 years training in HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry is preferred. Must have a working knowledge of building, systems and equipment. Must possess a current driver’s license. Must have proficient computer skills, including working with a work order system database, word processing and other computer programs (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook); Strong recordkeeping skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills required. Must have the ability to accomplish tasks outlined in the Barclay Friends maintenance person essential duties. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Working Conditions:
Works with oils, greases, wetness, heat, cold or other adverse conditions indoors and outdoors.

Job Hazards:
Normal hazards associated with moving and stationary equipment, moving parts, use of power tools, saws and electricity.

Hours:
Full-time, exempt position from 8am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday. This position includes additional hours on an as-needed basis. This position is also required to be on-call some evenings and weekends.

·         Assist in the supervision and orientation of new nursing staff.

·         Lead investigations for injuries of unknown origin and/or allegations as needed.

·         Audit clinical systems and/or medical records to ensure compliance with all clinical systems

·         Must have a license in the State of Pennsylvania as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. Two years experience in Personal Care needed. Supervisory experience strongly preferred. Housekeeping: Performs cleaning tasks that assure a clean and attractive environment for residents, guests and co-workers.

Laundry: Provides laundry services for health services, dining services, facilities department, and for individual residents as assigned.

Essential Functions:

·    Housekeeping: Perform detailed cleaning and sanitizing tasks, empty trash and process recycling in designated areas. May assist with additional cleaning tasks or projects as assigned. Perform work as per quality and quantity standards identified for the job and/or department.

·    Housekeeping: Restock cart with necessary supplies.

·    Laundry: Understand and follow established laundry procedures including proper use of detergents and other chemicals, and safe use of all equipment including washers and dryers. Ensure that an adequate supply of linens is available to meet the “par” level.

·    Properly use, maintain and store equipment.

·    Conduct job duties in a safe manner, following all safety regulations and guidance from safety data sheets, and using proper personal protective equipment for work.

·    Follow written and verbal work plans and assignments.

·    Follow and complete work plans and assignments as per work schedule. Assist others in department when you have time, and ask supervisor for help if you need assistance completing tasks within assigned work schedule.

Kendal~Crosslands Communities, a continuing care retirement community located in Kennett Square, PA has an opportunity for a Dietary Manager at our Kendal at Longwood site.  This position is full time, 80 hours per pay and requires availability to work 7:30am-4pm and 10:30am-7pm.  Those interested must be willing to work every other weekend and every other holiday.

This position is responsible for maintaining resident wellness and satisfaction by assisting in the oversight of dining room meal service and the overall nutritional care of residents and guests in the Health Center Dining Rooms. This position is responsible for assisting with the supervision of both full and part time staff members in the Health Center Dining Rooms. This includes, but is not limited to supervision of residents’ therapeutic diets in the Cumberland and Westmorland Dining Rooms, assistance with dining room service, completion of staff work schedules, appraisal of staff work performance and oversight of sanitation responsibilities. Additionally, candidates must be willing to wait on tables and serve residents in the Health Center Dining Rooms as needed.    This position requires strong leadership skills, ability to promote teamwork and the ability to adapt to change in the workplace. Computer skills are a plus.

Qualifications and experiences for this positon include a minimum of two years waited service experience as well as experience in the area of supervision and food production.  Candidates must have completed or be currently enrolled in an approved Dietary Manager’s course and/or attained credentials as a Registered Dietetic Technician.  Knowledge of therapeutic diets required.

Our 13-acre campus can accommodate 159 long-term residents, as well as 8 hospice residents and 44 independent living residents. Chandler Hall employs over 300 dedicated staff members, with the support of more than 100 regular volunteers, and additional volunteers from local schools, religious organizations, service groups and corporations. Adult Day Health includes about 50 participants in all. The ideal candidate should have 3-5 years experience as a DON and a history working in not for profit settings.  Working knowledge of AOD a plus, but comfort with paper charts and processes as well.  Experience working in a CCRC also helpful.  Candidate should have an open communication style and be able to engage staff, residents and families.  Job functions include maintaining quality and care which meets/exceeds Chandler Hall and regulatory expectations, partnering wih the Interdisciplinary team to achieve goals and outcomes, partnering with the Medical Director to assure clinical excellence, partnering with NHA to prepare annual budget, development and oversight of policies and procedures, maintaining and overseeing data for quality, compliance and risk management.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
  • Valid State Licensure as a RN
  • Must hold and maintain current CPR Certification
  • 3-5 years experience as a Director of Nursingor supervisory experience in long term or acute care.
  • Experience supervising nursing staff and other for whom they are administratively responsible
  • Proficient use of a personal computer including MS Office
  • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance
  • Must have ability to complete multiple projects
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding resident and organization proprietary information
  • Must have the ability to relate professionally and positively and work cooperatively with residents, families and other employees at all levels.
