As Dining Services Manager, you will direct and oversee the operations of our café, formal dining rooms and catered events. You’ll play an active role in ensuring a pleasurable dining experience and planning special events for our residents, visitors and staff members in our multiple dining venues. As our Community is planning for expanded dining programming and venue renovations, we are looking for a well-rounded individual with experience in upscale marketplace operations, bistro dining, and formal service, and your previous experience with renovation processes is highly desirable. You will supervise exempt and non-exempt staff members with a wide range of experience levels and will be responsible for managerial functions such as: payroll and scheduling; hiring and training; evaluating performance; and mentoring and developing staff members. As a department head within the organization, we are looking for collaborative, innovative team member who can take our premier services to the next level.

The Dining Services Manager is a full-time exempt position.  The scheduled hours for this position are flexible, they will vary based on the needs of the department, and will include weekend and holiday rotations. 

Qualifications for the position include:

  • Associate Degree in Nutrition, Hotel Restaurant Management, Culinary Arts or Business Administration required, or equivalent education and experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a department head, management or leadership role. Hospitality and/or culinary experience in a CCRC, Business and Industry or College and University campus setting, the restaurant industry and/or retail marketplace required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of fine dining, catering, restaurant, and retail café operations.
  • Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of POS, order management, media, and reservations systems.
  • ServSafe food safety certificate required. CDM, CFPP certification desirable.
  • Must have knowledge of commercial food preparation, purchasing, and inventory control.  
  • Must demonstrate strong business math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages and ratios in order to perform dietary conversions.
  • Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of safe food handling practices in compliance with governing regulations.
  • Must possess strong customer service and interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Must reflect a high degree of respect, sensitivity, patience and tolerance and maintain confidentiality with resident information.
  • Must demonstrate computer skills and working knowledge of programs including e-mail, graphics, menu and nutrition planning and word processing programs.
  • Must demonstrate working knowledge of point of sale systems, to include electronic transactions and retail cash handling practices.
