POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating Friends House Retirement Community financial activities in order to insure compliance with Friends House Retirement Community Policies and federal, state and county regulations. Directly oversees the Business Office Staff and its related activities. Coordinates inter department financial activities as needed in order to provide for optimal financial accountability and control.    

QUALIFICATIONS:  Education, Training, Experience, and Abilities

Degree or certificate in accounting from a recognized school of business administration, or college. At least five years of accounting and or business administration experience, with experience in Long Term Care industry preferred. Good oral and written communication skills necessary. Any satisfactory combination of education, training, experience, or abilities in a related field.

Must be able to read, write, and speak English as to be understood effectively by another individual.

Must be able to accomplish all responsibilities without supervision or other employee assistance after the training period is completed, and do so without injury to oneself or other individuals.

Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for all accounting ledger activity; including check and cash disbursements journals, receipts journals, sales journals, and adjusting journals. 
  2. Oversees the financial activities of all departments in regards to purchasing products, equipment, supplies, and services.  
  3. Part of the team including the Chief Financial Officer preparing the operational, cash, and capital budgets.

Accounting Manager

  1. Responsible for providing timely financial statements and other needed or requested financial reports. 
  2. Responsible for production of monthly work papers supporting the financial statements.
  3. Assists in developing and updating financial policies and procedures as needed or mandated.
  4. Maintains a current knowledge of financial developments in the Long Term Care Industry and related areas.    
  5. Other miscellaneous related duties as assigned.
  6. Attends Medicare and Medicaid Seminars.
  7. Oversees Resident Fund Management.
  8. Other assigned duties.
  9. Abides by the standards and practices as set forth in the Corporate Compliance Code of Conduct.
