Introduce a Student to Career Opportunities in Aging Services

Employment opportunities in aging services are growing, yet most college students are unaware of how their field of study might prepare them for work in this sector. From hospitality to health services, business and marketing, human resources and more, there are roles within the aging services environment for a variety of disciplines.

In the interest of developing this next generation of leaders, FSA has partnered with Friends Foundation for the Aging to create the FSA Internship Program. When an organization hosts an intern, they introduce a selected student to facets of serving seniors they many never have considered, and can open minds to the many career possibilities.

Just ask the most recent FSA Interns, who described their experience as eye-opening and even life-changing! Of the more than 50 interns FSA has placed with member organizations in the past decade, nearly 10% of them are working in the industry now: proof that the FSA Internship Program makes a difference.

An an FSA Intern host site, your organization agrees to identify specific projects where an intern would be involved during an 8-10 week period in the summer. Interns receive academic credit for their experience, and are supported by a member of the educational institution’s faculty in establishing academic goals for the project.

Your organization would provide the intern with housing, meals and the possibility of a stipend and travel expenses supported by the FSA Internship Program.
