Internship Program for FSA Members

Host an Intern

As part of an initiative seeking to support member organizations in the development of the next generation of leaders, FSA has partnered with Friends Foundation for the Aging to develop an internship program for students who wish to learn more about working in the field of aging services. This program offers selected students the opportunity to experience organizational life within an FSA member organization.

Member organizations serve as host sites for interns for an 8-10 week summer experience and identify specific projects where the intern would be involved. Interns receive academic credit for their experience, and are supported by a member of the educational institution’s faculty in establishing academic goals for the project.

Interns have worked in a number of different departments, including Administration, Human Resources, Social Work and Food Service.

Introduce a Student to Work Opportunities in the Field of Aging Services

Over the past decade, we have placed more than 50 interns in different FSA member locations. Many of these students had not considered working in the senior living field prior to their internship, and we know that nearly 10 percent of past FSA interns are working in the industry now – proof that the program does make a difference.

Interns are provided with housing, meals and the possibility of a stipend. They will be reimbursed for travel expenses incurred for initial transportation to the host site and their return trip. They are required to write a synthesizing report at the conclusion of their internship.

Having – or being – an intern can be a life-changing experience. Read some success stories:
