  • PDPM: Where Are We Now?
Stephanie Kessler, RAC-CT, CHP | Partner, Senior Living Services Consulting Group, RKL LLP

To say the Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM) was not our biggest challenge in 2020 would be an understatement!  As providers managed keeping residents, their loved ones and staff healthy and safe, PDPM did continue to chug along. As we transition into our second year of this new Medicare Part A reimbursement system, we have learned a lot. Join us to discuss the successes and pitfalls of PDPM. We will discuss the Medicare Part A revenue cycle process and other key items impacting your Medicare reimbursement.

  • A Board Lens for Quality - LeadingAge Framework
    Jane Mack | President/CEO, FSA

This session provides an opportunity to review the new framework proposed by LeadingAge for governing boards to use when considering quality from a broader lens. This tool is being rolled out in mid-July as part of the Imagining (Strategic Planning and Foresight) section of a new LeadingAge project providing resources and tools to support the important work of member organizations’ governing boards. This framework moves beyond strictly clinical indicators to reflect the Institute of Medicine’s six aims for health care quality as well as an individual’s quality of life.

Break | 2:00 - 2:15pm

Session 2 | 2:15 - 3:45pm
1.5 NAB CEUS

  • Where Does Mindfulness Fit in the Risk Management and Compliance Resilience Toolkit?
Laura Peters, MA, PHR | Human Resources Development & Learning Manager, Qualified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Instructor, Kendal at Ithaca

In this interactive, experiential workshop, we will explore this question, and the surprising role this mind-body practice can play in Thriving After Surviving. Gathering together in this final session of the conference, we’ll share lessons learned and experiment with some simple Mindfulness practices. We’ll even dare to ask the question: What lessons can trees teach us about accident and injury prevention? Ease your way home with some new resilience tools, perhaps a new friend, and stories to inspire you in the next chapter of our global journey.

  • Fair Housing Update
Christina Wildrick | Director of Risk Management, FSA

The FHA affects all areas of senior living communities, from advertising and marketing, to scooter use, service animals, private duty aides, accessible design, hoarding and movement through the continuum of care. There are many pitfalls and risks around this topic. What are Protected Classes? What types of questions can you ask prospective residents? Learn about how changes in presidential administrations bring new focus to different areas of the law and recent case law updates, as well as strategies to minimize risk and navigate the choppy waters of the Fair Housing Act.
